The types of waste (5): Wrong and insufficient information flows

Inform instead of communicate

In the indirect areas of the company, information is the product that is worked with. Incorrect, missing or outdated information is often the cause of waste and extra work. The superfluous transport of information – which we all know in the form of overflowing email inboxes – is also part of this type of waste. This blocks resources and results in long processing times. The aim of lean implementation is to provide employees with the information they need at the right time and in the required format.
